Michael van Straten MSc.

Trainee Patent Attorney

Michael van Straten is a dedicated trainee patent attorney with experience in intellectual property for over 9 years.

With a B.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering, Michael started as a patent searcher at Océ in 2010 where he dealt with patent matters in the fields of chemistry, physics and mechanics.

In 2016, Michael obtained a M.Sc. degree in Intellectual Property Law and Knowledge Management. In 2017, he also obtained a LL.M. degree in the same field. For these two master degrees he wrote a dissertation on the morality clauses in copyright, trademark and patent law and another dissertation on the crossover over patent law and plant variety rights.

While on route to obtain both master degrees, Michael started his training to become European patent attorney after about 6 years of patent searching. Now Michael is close to finishing his training.

In 2019 Michael made the switch from industry to private patent practise by joining the IPecunia Patents B.V. team.
